M D Goel >>About Me

I was born at Budhana (Muzaffarnagar), Uttar Pradesh in India. I completed my bachelor of engineering from Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE) at Wanadongri, Nagpur under the then Nagpur University in 2000. I was awarded three gold medals by Nagpur University for academic excellence and I completed my B.E. with First Rank in University. Upon qualifying through graduate aptitude test for engineering (GATE) in 2001, I pursued master of technology (M. Tech.) in offshore engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai till 2003. I completed my Ph. D. from Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi along with DAAD Fellowship from University of Federal Armed Forces Munich (UniBwM), Germany. The topic of my doctoral research was "Blast Response of Structures and Its Mitigation Using Advanced Lightweight Materials".

My research had been appreciated with many awards. I was awarded Surendrannath Mukherjee Memorial Medal for best research paper by Institution of Engineers (India). I went Germany for my Ph. D. under German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Sandwich Model Scholarship awarded by DAAD, Germany. I had been selected Young Ambassador by German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) for consecutively two years. My doctoral thesis had been awarded as the best thesis by the Indian National Academy of Engineering under "Innovative Student Project Award 2013" at doctoral level in Civil Engineering discipline. I had been been awarded prestigeous “CSIR Young Scientist Awards-2014” in Engineering Sciences by CSIR. I had been been nominated as “DAAD Research Ambassador” by German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD). I had been awarded “I.E. Young Engineer Award-2014” by Institution of Engineers (India). I had been awarded INSA Visiting Fellowship. I am life member of several professional societies. I am an active reviewer for many international and national journals.

In the past, I worked as a Sceintist with CSIR-Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institutte (AMPRI) Bhopal and CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) Nagpur, India. I have more than 85 International and National publications to my credit during a research period of 10 years along with 4 Nos. of Patents. My areas of research interest include blast analysis, blast resistant structures, lightweight materials, composite structures, low, medium and high strain rate material characterization and computational mechanics. I am looking forward to contribute in the broader areas of structural protection systems used against blast and impact loading alongwith the development of advanced materials for thier application in blast resistant design.

Thank you very much for you kind interest in my profile !!!
